If you were wondering how Erivo stayed so flawless and glowy from the opening sequence through each costume change, performance and award, we’ve got you covered. Here’s the Wicked star’s full glam breakdown, courtesy of K-beauty brand TirTir.
How to Recreate Cynthia Erivo’s Pearl-Inspired Tony Award Glam
Regardless of which of the 10 (yes, 10) outfits Erivo was sporting throughout the 78th annual Tony Awards, her glam was the perfect, long-lasting accessory. While the look was neutral enough to complement any style, Erivo’s makeup artist for the evening, Joan Simkin, was particularly inspired by the iridescent radiance of Erivo’s pearl-encrusted Schiaparelli gown for the Tonys red carpet. “The makeup direction was really led by the dress,” Simkin said. “The oyster pearls and nude/peachy velvet set the tone of the overall ethereal look. To complement her gown, we went for pearlescent, glowing makeup with fluttery lashes, lit skin and a tonal lip.”
In terms of what Simkin used to achieve the effortlessly shimmery look, the makeup artist turned to K-beauty brand (and official makeup sponsor of the 2025 Tony Awards) TIRTIR, relying on the brand’s long-lasting, satin-skin creating formulas. “For complexion, the TIRTIR Milk Skin Toner ($25) was an essential first step to lock in hydration,” Simkin began. “We followed up with the TIRTIR Ceramic Milk Ampoule ($30) for an extra hit of hydration and glow.” Hydrating is key, but there’s a fine line between glowy and oily, and Simkin has that boundary mastered. “To take down a bit of the glow while still remaining fresh and hydrated-looking, we used TIRTIR Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation ($25) in shades 43N and 45W, which delivered a flawless coverage with a semi-matte finish,” she says.
While Erivo’s satin skin was the perfect focal point of her Tony Award glam, her butterfly-esque lashes and muted eye look were equally as impressive. To create ideal fluttery lashes, Simkin used two separate strip lashes to create a fully customized look. “I first used KISS Lash Couture The Muses in Noblesse ($8), faux silk featherlight lashes, using KISS Superstick Lash Adhesive in Clear ($6) to the lash band before applying to Cynthia’s lash line,” Simkin explains. “I then cut the KISS Lash Couture Masterpiece in Avant-Garde ($10) faux mink fiber lashes that are voluminous and extra curly into spiky clusters. I used the KISS Superstick Lash Adhesive, then applied three pieces along the lash line for added dimension.”
